Services and Clinics

Repeat prescriptions

All repeat prescriptions must be ordered at least 48 hours in advance. This can be done either online, by mail, by fax or in person. We do not accept repeat prescriptions over the phone. If you wish that your prescription be returned to you by post, please provide a stamped addressed envelope. There are also local chemists who will order, collect and deliver your medication. If you have any queries regarding scripts, please call 0844 499 6606 and select the option for prescriptions.

Medical reports

We complete a variety of medical reports including (but not limited to) insurance, disability and housing reports to which various charges are levied. Please phone the surgery for more details.

Referrals

Our secretary, Hilary St Marie, deals with all referrals and hospital transport bookings. For queries, please call 0844 499 6606 and select the option for referrals. Private referrals are available for a £10 fee.

Home visits

Home visits are available every day between 10:00am and 3:00pm for those who cannot get to the surgery, and from 7:00am to 7:00pm for emergencies. Please call the on-call doctor on the day, who will assess whether or not you need a home visit.

District nurses and health visitors

We have a good district nurse team, based in-house who we work closely with to provide care for our acutely and chronically ill, housebound patients. Our in-house health visitors run a range of services for mothers and young children at our surgery.

Services for overseas visitors

Free medical advice and/or medication for pre-existing conditions is not available to visitors from abroad. Emergency care is available if the visitor holds an EEA E128 or E112, or if there is a reciprocal agreement between the countries. Chatfield is able to treat visitors privately in a 20 minute consultation for a charge. Please click here for further information on the policy and guidance regarding NHS treatment for overseas visitors.

Services outside surgery hours

Outside of normal surgery hours, Harmoni, our out of hours doctor based service, is available to give advice and home visits. Appointments at an emergency cente are also available for problems that cannot wait until the surgery is open. They can be reached at 08456 026 292.

NHS Direct is a confidential health advice and information helpline where a nurse can advise you on whether you need medical attention and if you do, how quickly you should get help. They can be contacted at 0845 4647.

NHS Walk-in Centres offer fast and convenient access to a range of NHS services, including health information, advice and treatment for a range of minor illnesses (coughs, colds, infections) and minor injuries (strains, sprains, cuts). They are open seven days a week from early morning to late evening. To locate your nearest centre, enter your postcode and click on "Search".
